Device Description:

The Circumference Dendrometer 2 is the simple version sensor for the measurement of circumference changes of plant trunks. 

The sensor will work with PUTD IOT Technology’s Smart Agriculture Device  as site test appliance and further  dendrometer sensor. By uploading data through wireless network, this combination will be further working with our cloud base IOT software platform(PUTD DSS) to provide the data view of the continuous changes of the circumference of tree trunks

This is the hardware platform which at one end interfaces with variety of industrial sensors for agriculture (dendrometer sensor this time) to collect field data and at the other end adopting one of radio connectivity systems to exchange the information with application software resides in data centre. Sensor Description (DC2)

The sensor is mounted by means of a stem embracing cable wire. The cable wires consists of a special material (purpose specific alloy), with the lowest thermal expansion coefficient available. The slide rings reduce friction and pressure between the wire cable and the tree bark.


  • Suitable for all tree sizes (> 5 cm)

  • Contact pressure between wire cable and tree adjusts with tree diameter

  • Automatic adjustment of the tension, sensitive measurements even with very large trees

  • No injury to plants

  • Stability against wind, snow, falling small branches and small fruits

  • Easy installation

  • Easy adjustment by the integrated turnbuckle

This sensor(DC2) is from German company Ecomatik.  We had adopted several types dendrometer sensors to form our IoT based plant testing solution. We can still choose suitable sensors to fit your diverse plant test requirements. 

Specification of DC2


It maybe on the agreement that we can offer to replace DC2 with DC3 as an upgrade beneficial to customer.  The DC3 has the same layout as the DC2. Only the sensor measuring range is greater than with the DC2. This meets the measurement requirements of fast growing trees.

  • Continuously collect the data of the tree size which helps to

    • Understand the growth status verse time

    • Compare the status with common experienced or industrial proven "curves" over time or across blocks/regions, then get the idea of our plant growing status, thus take proper actions

    • Help to understand what and how those related field environmental factors and actions have the influence on plant/tree growing   ​
